Future Narratives: post-Soviet Central Asian artists and designers viewing art as a means to express resistance and protest in their contemporary environment. Topics ranging from gender oppression to political repression.
As part of my senior thesis, this editorial book design derives from one of the main keywords of my written thesis: censorship.
Throughout the book I play on this notion, through the blocked/hidden/censored artists’ names and image captions. The reader gets to unveil their names through the highlighted, green and red pages; suggesting the reality of these marginalized artists and their immediate environments.
